Vestibular and Vertigo Treatment

Home Treatments Vestibular and Vertigo Treatment

Have you been told that you have vertigo, or experience regular dizziness or imbalance? Vertigo is more common than most people think, with approximately 30% of people experiencing dizziness and vertigo at some point in their lifetime. These symptoms may be a result of a problem with our eyes (visual system), inner ear (vestibular system), or our brain (central nervous system).

How Physiotherapists treat and manage vestibular conditions.

If your dizziness is stemming from a problem in the inner ear (vestibular system), a physiotherapist can help you with treatment and rehabilitation. Common conditions include benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), vestibular neuritis, labyrinthitis, Meniere’s disease, and vestibular migraines.

In your assessment, we complete a thorough investigation for each of these systems to determine the likely cause. Once the problem is identified, we may use treatments such as Canalith Repositioning Techniques (CRT) or Vestibular Balance and Rehabilitation Training (VBRT). At AFIA Physiotherapy, our physiotherapists will guide you through an individualized program to help you manage your vestibular condition.
